Nano Banana 2.1 is the latest image generation and editing model from Google DeepMind, released on October 6, 2026 as the successor to Nano Banana 2. It turns plain-language prompts into photos, illustrations, posters and product shots, and it edits existing pictures while keeping faces, products and layouts intact.
Compared with Nano Banana 2, version 2.1 renders sharper detail and more reliable text, keeps characters consistent across images and can change a selected region without touching the rest. On Google's Gemini API, image output also costs about half as much as before.
NanoBanana 2.1 puts the model in your browser. There is nothing to install and no code to write: describe the image, add reference photos if you like, and download the result in 1K, 2K or 4K.
The same easy prompting that made Nano Banana popular, with sharper results and more control.

14
reference images per request

Keep the same face, outfit, logo or product across a whole series of shots, ads or storyboard frames.

Square posts, 9:16 stories, 21:9 cinematic frames and ultra-wide 4:1 or 8:1 panoramas.
Put real words on posters, packaging, menus, infographics and thumbnails, in English, Chinese and other languages.
Swap a background, recolor a jacket or remove an object while the rest of the photo stays exactly as it was.
Turn on search grounding and Nano Banana 2.1 can draw on current information such as weather, events, places and products while it creates the image.
